The revelation that somebody collects toasters, pencil sharpeners or other old stuff, often causes the same reactions:

Awkward pause, nervous laugh, then: "...Toasters?" The following, brief monologue is preprogrammed: "Yes, you know, these old chrome-parts you can open up..." "Why the hell toasters? How many have you collected by now?" - "Well..., something like seventy..."
